Description:Melanomaassociatedantigen,Human,mAbNKI/beteb
Melanomaassociatedantigen(MAA)isdispersedinthecytoplasmaofmelanomacells,andismoreconcentratedinsidevacuolesandsometimesonthemelanosomes.Occasionallytheantigenisseenonthecellsurface.Theantigenisactivelyshedfromlivingcells.Althoughtheantigenisassociatedwithmelanomas,itisnotcodistributedwiththetyrosinaseactivityassociatedwithmelagonesis.TheantigenshowscodistributionwithcathepsinD,whichisaMarkerforlysosomalfunctions.TheantibodyNKI/betebrecognizesa(pre)melanosomal100kDand7kDantigen(glycoprotein).Theantibodyreactswithmelanomas,clearcellssarcomas(melanomaofsofttissue),nevocellularnevi,andnormalmelanocytes.Exceptforonecaseofnon-Hodgkin"slymphomainwhichmacrophageswerepositive,noreactionswithothertumorsortissueshavebeenobserved.
