Description:CD59,Human,mAbMEM-43
TheantibodyistheprototypicantibodyfortheCD59determinant,aPI-linkedglycoproteinof18-25kDa,whichisbroadlyexpressedonmosttypesofcells.Theantigenisthemajorcomplement-protectingmoleculeofhumancells.Itisexpressedonallleukocytes,erythrocytesandmostothercelltypes.Bindingofthisantibodyinhibitsthecomplement-protectingactivityofCD59.CD59isoneofthecomplementregulatorymembraneproteinsthatismissinginParoxysmalNocturnalHaemoglobinuria(PNH).AntiCD59reagentsmaybeusefulinthedifferentialdiagnosisofPNHtypeIIandPNHtypeI.RecentlyaroleforCD59inLPSsignaltransductionhasbeenreportedinkeratinocytes.Theantibodyreactswithwelldefinedepitope(W40,R-53)onCD59molecule.
