Nectin(originallyisolatedaspoliovirusreceptor-relatedprotein(PRR))isacell-celladhesionmoleculeoftheimmunoglobulinsupergenefamily.NectiniscolocalizedwithafADInatcadherin-basedcell-celladherencejunctionsinvarioustissuesandcelllines.Thenectinfamilyconsistofnectin-1,nectin-2andnectin-3.Nectin-2alsoknownasPRR2orCD112isaplasmamembraneadhesionmoleculelocalizedatadherensjunctionswhichiswidelyexpressedinvariouscelllinesincludingneuronal,endothelial,epithelialandhematopoieticcells.NexttoitsroleinadherensjunctionsitfunctionsasalphaherpusvirusreceptorandactsalsoasintercellularadhesionmoleculeandpseudorABIesvirusreceptor.Disruptionofmousenectin-2leadstoinfertilityofmalemice.Monoclonalantibody502-57hasbeenraisedagainsttheextracellulardomainofmousenectin-2.Theantibodycrossreactswithhumannectin-2.
